Kids say the darnedest things

Our granddaughter goes to preschool at a Jewish synagogue. It is highly rated. I was somewhat concerned but I thought well if they teach the Torah that’s a great foundational start. I voiced my concern to her parents and they said they didn’t teach against Jesus. I said but the parents might and the children say what their parents say.

I have a Jewish friend that said she would never follow someone who caused such a devision. I view Jesus as someone who wanted to bring unity with all people.

Four year olds are coming into voicing their new found emotions and words. I hate naps, I hate green peas, I don’t want to go to bed, I hate you! But I had never heard a child say…

Claire has beautiful friendships with a few of the children at the school. I have been amazed at how compassionate and loving she is with and about them.

Claire is very intelligent, her father is in finance, her mother is a lawyer. She likes to talk and when it comes to prayer time before we eat, she refuses to be quiet and even makes loud noises to get us to stop. One day when I finished the prayer “in Jesus name” she said “I hate Jesus!” I gasped and said “oh, He is my friend!” “He is so kind!” She hung her head and said “oh, I didn’t know.”

Her parents have since told her about Jesus and now she will sweetly bow her head and close her eyes. The other day she said “look Mimi, I made a cross in my mashed potatoes!”

In the Bible, Jesus says…

”Seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”“

Joseph M. Scriven wrote this poem in 1855 to comfort his mother while he was living in Ireland and she in Canada. In 1868 it was put to music.

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer

In August of 2019 Outskirts Press published my first book. I never thought I would be an author, I am not an avid reader or writer but when you tell a true story and the reactions have lasting effects, that's what validates the need for the book to be written. I am a daughter of the King, the wife of a wonderful husband, a mother of 3 exceptional men and a grandmother of 4 girls. I was the Assistant District Governor for SE OK and NE TX Rotary International 2019-2020. I am a health insurance specialist for Kevin Cory, State Farm Insurance where we have reached Million Dollar Roundtable 5 years in row. I taught art at Goodland Christian Academy and Goodland public school for 9 years. I have painted murals at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and two in Hugo, OK. I have been a member of many Christian denominations and I have built production sets for Vacation Bible Schools, Christmas musicals and Easter musicals. I have been a volunteer mission worker with World Changers. When I was Rotary President 2014-2016 our club was awarded the highest Rotary District honor.
