Bleep

Where’s the bleep? Bad words, foul language used to get bleeped out!

Excuse me, what did you say? That’s what my mother or teacher would say if I said a foul word. Followed by watch your mouth.

Clark Gable spoke the first foul word heard in cinema in the movie Gone With the Wind. It has sent a ripple effect through the airwaves since.

Should it be a big deal anymore? Big deal? God spoke the universe into existence with the words “Let there be light.” He spoke the animals and creeping things into existence with words. Yes, words are a Big deal.

I used to get an “N” (needs improvement) on my report card every semester for talking too much. Mind you my father was an air traffic controller and talking was his job. He didn’t stop there and I came by it naturally.

Now talking is used as an income more than ever. People are elevated through Ted talks and people are canceled for a Facebook post.

In the news yesterday they were talking about a commentator who was everywhere, speaking here and there. They played a snippet of him speaking and the first word out of his mouth was Damn. Damn is a curse word, it’s called curse word because it curses whatever you spoke it over.

I have heard such an uptick in foul language it’s sickening to me. (The Bible says sin should be sickening to the Christian). Oh I have used curse words in the past, it was heard often in my father’s language so I picked it up. I wish I had gotten the example from my mother who never spoke one. It is like an addiction, once you start it’s hard to stop. They creep in when you least expect it. Say you hit your finger with a hammer? Why is that?

What does the Bible say about foul language?

“Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.”
‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

And one of the Big Ten…

““You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭7‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Yes, words do matter! Our manual “The Bible” says so.

In August of 2019 Outskirts Press published my first book. I never thought I would be an author, I am not an avid reader or writer but when you tell a true story and the reactions have lasting effects, that's what validates the need for the book to be written. I am a daughter of the King, the wife of a wonderful husband, a mother of 3 exceptional men and a grandmother of 4 girls. I was the Assistant District Governor for SE OK and NE TX Rotary International 2019-2020. I am a health insurance specialist for Kevin Cory, State Farm Insurance where we have reached Million Dollar Roundtable 5 years in row. I taught art at Goodland Christian Academy and Goodland public school for 9 years. I have painted murals at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and two in Hugo, OK. I have been a member of many Christian denominations and I have built production sets for Vacation Bible Schools, Christmas musicals and Easter musicals. I have been a volunteer mission worker with World Changers. When I was Rotary President 2014-2016 our club was awarded the highest Rotary District honor.
